Reliability questions

The case does not rest on scandals, personalities, or every disputed historical question. It asks whether LDS doctrine matches the God, Christ, gospel, and authority taught by Scripture.

Reliability still matters because LDS doctrine depends on restored prophetic authority. If the restoration witnesses are unreliable at decisive points, the authority claim weakens at its foundation.

The Book of Abraham tests Joseph Smith's role as translator and scripture producer. The Independence temple prophecy tests a time-bound revelation in official LDS scripture.

Both questions are public. They can be checked against LDS texts, official LDS historical explanation, and the record those sources themselves acknowledge.

A failed translation claim or unfulfilled prophecy does not replace the doctrinal argument. It supports it by showing why later restoration authority cannot be allowed to redefine the apostolic faith and then serve as its own proof.

That is why these pages are narrower than the main case: they do not need to answer every historical question. They ask whether these central claims deserve the authority LDS doctrine gives them.
