The Bible identifies Jesus as God
The New Testament does not merely say Jesus is important. It identifies Him as Creator, Lord, and God.
Creator language excludes a created Christ #
John says all things were made through the Word. Colossians says all things were made by and for Christ. Hebrews gives the Son divine honor and places Him above angels.
If every created thing comes through Christ, Christ cannot be one premortal spirit child among other spirit children.
Firstborn means supremacy in context #
Colossians calls Christ firstborn, but the next lines explain the point: all things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, were created by Him and for Him.
If firstborn meant first created spirit child, the passage would contradict itself. In context, firstborn names Christ's preeminence and inheritance, not His membership inside the created order.
The New Testament gives divine honor #
John 20 records Thomas confessing the risen Jesus as Lord and God. Hebrews 1 contrasts the Son with angels and gives Him throne language, worship, creative work, and an enduring kingdom.
LDS doctrine can call Jesus divine and still miss this category. Christianity confesses the Son as true God, not a lesser or separate divine being under the Father.
| Passage | Biblical claim | Use in the case |
|---|---|---|
| John 1 | The Word was God, and all things were made by Him. | If all created things came through Christ, Christ is not inside the created order. |
| Colossians 1 | All things were created by and for Christ. | The Son is before all created things, not one spirit child among others. |
| Hebrews 1 | The Son receives divine honor and is superior to angels. | This separates Christ from angelic or spirit-child categories. |
