core argument
LDS authority is not apostolic authority
The LDS system is not just a set of beliefs about Jesus. It is an institutional authority claim about priesthood keys and temple ordinances.
Christ's priesthood is the Christian center #
Hebrews does not tell Christians to seek a restored Aaronic or Melchizedek chain as the ground of confidence before God. It points to Christ's unchangeable priesthood and His continuing intercession.
That does not erase church order or ministry. It means Christian assurance is anchored in Christ Himself rather than in a later institution claiming exclusive keys for saving ordinances.
The LDS handbook confirms the scope #
Current LDS instruction ties priesthood keys to the direction of God's work of salvation and exaltation. It also lists ordinances necessary for salvation and exaltation, including temple endowment and temple sealing.
That makes the issue unavoidable. LDS doctrine is not merely faith in Jesus plus a different congregation. It is a restored authority system that claims to administer necessary saving and exalting ordinances unavailable in Christian churches.
